Quick update

1 min read
Hi there!

I know I neglect this site, and I am not happy about that. Truth is, my training to become a teacher is as fucked up as everbody keeps telling you while you study. Maybe not all that horrible, but still horrible enough. The worst is: no weekends (approximately 6-8 hours work each Saturday and Sunday). So not much time for family, friends and hobbies.
Good news are, I'm more than halfway through! Yeah! And despite the horrible conditions I still enjoy it. I love my students (please don't take this literally and file a complaint against me...)  and most of the time I leave class with a smile. I hope this will last. ^^

Thanks for all the favs you left me over the last months. Even though I do not thank you individually for each fav, they are much appreciated.

Hey guys,

it's been a long time since I've been active on DA. But I plan on changing that!

A lot of things have changed over the last months.
I moved in with my boyfriend and we hit the jackpot with our new apartment. It is absolutely gorgeous and quite low priced for the district we are living in. Besides that, a lot is happening with family and friends. People are moving to different cities, getting ill and fortunately better again, getting married and having kids.
This year was packed with work until now, because I had problems with finishing my masters degree at university, due to a totally awful teacher who made promises to me that turned out to be total bull. I learned Turkish for three semesters and I was told this will be sufficient to fulfill my language requirement. Two years after I finished the last class, while I was actually sitting in an office to enroll for my master thesis, the caseworker looks at me and tells me my certificate was not sufficient.
Long story short, I've spent the first half of this year learning Dutchlike a lunatic, so I would finally be permitted to start my master thesis. The requirement to learn two other foreign languages is quite ridiculous, because you only need it to be allowed to start your master thesis and for nothing else. Doesn't even matter which languages you learn. Even though I was totally devastated that I could not start my thesis as planned, learning Dutch is quite fun and now I see it as a personal gain instead of an annoying obligation.
Now I am preparing for my oral examination which will take place on Thursday. My written thesis is finished and I feel relieved even though I feel not giddy with pleasure right now as I expected it to be when I am finally through with my studies. Maybe I'll feel that way on Thursday. So, keep your fingers crossed for me.

I will upload some of the art again that I drew back in Ireland (it seems like an eternity ago) and hopefully some other art soon. I will clear out some of my older deviations. Most of the older pictures will stay in the gallery, simply because they represent what I've learned over the years, even though I do not like some of them that much anymore.
To all the people who faved pictures while I was inactive: Thanks so much!
I'll answer any comments left unanswered over the next days.

I am looking forward to hear from all of you and I am eager to exchange advice, critique and praise for your art as well as mine. Heart

(While writing this journal I realized how rusty my writing skills in English are... shame on me)

So, enjoy your weekend!

Hi there

I always appreciated DeviantArt for the possibility to talk about my artwork. It helped me to improve because other artists critisized me and gave me hints how to improve.
It really bothers me that people fav 15 of my pictures at once, and do not leave a single comment. Of course, I am happy that people like my artwork. But I feel like it is just consumed. There is no conversation at all. No exchange about drawing techniques or anything else anymore (except a few people with whom I write quite a lot). This is one of the reasons why I am not that active anymore on DA. When I log in and from 60 messages 14 are pictures and 4 are journals by others, the rest are favs. Not a single comment. Until recently my opinion was that I leave short comments if people fav my work, because I think being polite and respectful towards others is important. But I do not have any interest to log in to DA and spent half an hour with copying "Thanks for the fav" into several profiles-and this is it. It feels like there is no appreciation or credit for the time and effort an artist puts into his or her pictures. Moreover, I feel so hypocrite doing this, because I do not really mean it. This is not facebook, where everything is about hitting the like button.
I am seriously thinking about clearing my account and setting up a new one. I am not sure if this would change anything, probably not. If I could, I would set up an option that people can only fav my work if they leave a comment. Seriously. For me DA is not, and never was, about "fishing for faves". I would exchange one hundred favs for one helpful comment.

In my opinion, DA is about more than just collecting the work of others. It is about exchange of critique and inspiration. Respect for other peoples work. Whether it is digital art, traditional drawing, stock-photography (I love stock!) etc.

Sorry for the quite negative journal, but I had to get this off my chest because it bothered my for quite a long time now.

Happy New Year

2 min read
Hi everyone!

yes, I am still alive. ;)

Just wanted to wish you all a happy new year and get rid of the old journal.
I hope that I will find more time for DA in the coming months again. Even though, I can not promise exactly when this will be, first I have to find a new flat and sort things out back home.

In the meantime I want to upload some of my recently drawn pictures anyway. Problem is, I do not have a scanner here, and I couldn't figure out yet how to photograph my drawings so they look at least a bit like they do in reality. ;)
So if someone has some advice concerning this problem, I would be more than happy to hear it. ^^

Hope you enojoy the pics I upload anyway.

To all the people who faved my work or put me on their watch-list during the last months: Thank you!
I love to answer comments, as well as writing comments myself for other artist's work, so guys keep this kind of communication up. Even though I appreciate a fav, I appreciate a comment on one of my pics a lot more. :)

So, hope you have a good start this year!

Greetings

Hey there!

Currently I am very busy. But  I wanted to upload something anyway.

I have so many unfinished pictures lying around, so I decided to upload those I won't finish.
Moreover, I will show you some sketches I've done at the university or somewhere else. There are not as detailed and "well drawn" as my other pics. But since I have not so much time to draw at the moment, and I don't want my acount to be totally outdated, I put them in my gallery anyway.

Greetings
